Each of these units works separately as well as in conjunction with the other units.

Units also work with outside organizations and coalitions to advance the issues facing the Ethiopian community in Israel today.

IAEJ invests in the creation and maintenance of a core staff of professionals who are stable role models within the community and who are capable of moving the IAEJ resolutely into the future.

(1)The Strategic Research, Planning and Analysis Unit ("Strategic Unit")
The goal of the Strategic Unit is to advance the issues of Ethiopian absorption through gathering, processing, and disseminating information and expertise related to absorption issues. The Strategic Unit provides information to government bodies, other units of the IAEJ, foundations, federations, the Ethiopian community, and other interested parties.

The Strategic Unit performs general research, analysis, and planning functions for the IAEJ with regards to employment, education, and housing. This Unit will play an integral role in the advancement of Ethiopian absorption in 2003.

    (2) The Institutional Advocacy and Public Relations Unit ("Advocacy Unit")
The goal of the Advocacy Unit is to effect positive changes in the budgeting and initiation of social and educational policies for the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel. The Advocacy Unit meets regularly with government bodies and politicians to emphasize the importance of policy reforms regarding the Ethiopian population.

The Advocacy Unit performs public relations work and advances the issues facing the Ethiopian community in Israel. This unit plays an integral role in regards to employment, education, and housing reforms.

    (3)The Community Empowerment Unit
The goal of the Community Empowerment Unit is to assist in the formation of an informed, active and unified network of Ethiopian citizens who can advocate on behalf of the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel, both on local and national levels.

The Community Empowerment Unit provides tools, guidance and support for activists and grassroots non-profit Ethiopian organizations initiating change within their local neighborhoods and communities. Through contact, coordination, seminars and workshops IAEJ helps develop strong connections between local, regional and national representatives of various Ethiopian Jewish communities.
