IAEJ fieldworkers mediated
a July meeting between neighborhood leaders
in Hadera and social workers from the local
Labor Office, and local non-profit organizations.
All parties explained their roles in local programs
for Ethiopians. This allowed all to understand
one another's positions and activities, and
to plan ways to work more effectively in partnership.
An additional meeting in September with local
non-profit organizations discussed a coalition
building and methods for checking efficiency
of programs run by municipal social workers
for Ethiopians.
IAEJ fieldworkers also conducted
a related survey of community members about
their concerns and perceptions of programs run
by municipal social workers. This activity was
conducted jointly with local Ethiopian organizational
representatives and activists, in order to provide
perspective on the needs of the community, and
to strengthen connections between local organizations
and their constituents.
