IAEJ presented
a position paper to the Steering Committee on
Education on the past and present situation of
Ethiopian students in these institutions.
Placing students in this manner was a common absorption
strategy resulting in detrimental effects such
as limited courses of study available to Ethiopian
students, and marginalization of the role of Ethiopian
parents in the education process.
Changes have occurred in recent years and a new
assessment of the system is in order.
IAEJ has just completed a 32-page report on this
issue, and is currently bringing more focus to
bear on it in the Knesset, in the Ministry of
Education, and in the Ministry of Absorption.
